Day 24- Alabama's Debut
- On the next pages in your notebook, add the following in this order:
- ALABAMA GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS map. You will use the ALABAMA REGIONS ARTICLE to draw a map of the different areas in Alabama. The map should be color coded, with a key to indicate what color you are using for each region.
- ALABAMA REGIONS ARTICLE. Answer the two questions at the bottom of the page in complete sentences.
- ALABAMA GEOGRAPHIC FEATURES MAP. Using the instructions, and the appropriate symbols, correctly label the map with the features. Make sure to add color to you map.
- HIGHLAND RIM SECTION ARTICLE. Identify the different geological characteristics and the natural resources at the bottom of the page.
- CUMBERLAND PLATEAU SECTION ARTICLE. Identify the different geological characteristics and the natural resources at the bottom of the page.
- ALABAMA VALLEY AND RIDGE SECTION ARTICLE. Identify the different geological characteristics and the natural resources at the bottom of the page.
- PIEDMONT UPLAND SECTION ARTICLE. Identify the different geological characteristics and the natural resources at the bottom of the page.
- EAST GULF COASTAL PLAIN SECTION ARTICLE. Identify the different geological characteristics and the natural resources at the bottom of the page.
Alabama Geological/Geographical Brochure
Front of the paper:
- Left: Include information and pictures about the Alabama Valley and Ridge area and the Piedmont Upland
- Middle: Research some fun Geologic sites in Alabama such as fossil hunting (where and what kind), Caves, (where and what makes them unique), State Parks (relating to geology, what makes them unique) and pictures.
- Right: Economics of Alabama:What are the major natural resources that are found in Alabama that are related to geology? You may want to look for things such as the rocks and minerals that are mined and their uses, fossil fuels, natural gas resources, etc. Indicate their importance to the economy of Alabama (how much money they bring in. etc.)
- Left: Include information and pictures about the East Gulf Coastal Plains, the Highland Rim and the Cumberland Plateau.
- Middle: Draw a map of Alabama, indicate the points of interest from the center section on the opposite side, as well as indicate the 5 regions of Alabama. You will include your references for the brochure in this section as well.
- Right: This is the front cover of the brochure. Create a name for the brochure and add something on the front that represents Alabama that will attract your audience.
