Day 1- Disciplines of Earth Science
On page 8 (eight) and 9 (nine) of your notebook create a chart like the one below. Fill both pages with the chart. Label the pages as Disciplines of Earth Science. Make sure to update your table of contents.
In each box you will research the different disciplines of Earth Science.
- Definition box- find a definition of the discipline and copy it to your notebook. You may use the Internet or a book to help you find the definition.
- Your Words box- once you have the definition from the source of you choice, change the definition so it is in your own words and you can remember it.
- Picture Box- create a picture that will help you to remember the disciple. The picture must be in color and represent the discipline.
- Career box- Find a career in each of the disciplines and give the following information:
- Title of the job
- Description of the job. (What do they do?)
- What are the education requirements? (How much schooling do they need?)
- How much do they make? (This will be a range.)
Rubric:
- 1 point per complete definition box (5 pts possible)
- 1 point per complete Your Words box (5 pts possible)
- 2 points per completed picture box: 1 point per picture, 1 point for color (10 pts possible)
- 4 points per complete career box: 1 point per question (4 points per box, 20 points possible)
Day 2- History of the Earth/ Time Era Paper
- On Page 10 (ten) of your notebook, add the HISTORY OF THE EARTH article. Read and annotate the article. Once you understand the article, create a one sentence summery and write it in the indicated location.
- On Page 11 (eleven) of your notebook, add the TIME ERA article. Read and annotate the article. Note that not everyone will have the same article as there are multiple time periods.
- Get a TIME ERA QUESTIONS sheet and cut it in half. On pages 12 (twelve) and 13 (thirteen), add each half of the questions. Using the articles on the previous pages, answer the questions.
Day 3- Time Era Paper Rough Draft
Write a rough draft of your TIME ERA paper. On page 14 of your notebook, insert the TIME ERA PARAGRAPH PROMPTS and TIME ERA PEER REVIEW half sheet. This half sheet is to help you organize your paper. The paper should be no more than 1 (one) page long in your notebook. You will write the rough draft of the paper on Page 15 of your notebook. Label this page TIME ERA PARAGRAPH ROUGH DRAFT. Once you have written the paragraph, using the prompts on page 14, have another member of the class review your rough draft using the peer review on page 14. The reviewer may also mark on your rough draft in another color to help you correct grammar, ask questions, etc. This will help you prepare for the final draft that you will turn in.
Once you have completed the rough draft of your TIME ERA paper, begin working on a poster about your time era. Poster paper will be made available to you. You may work in groups of 2-3 (two or three people). You may not work alone on the poster. Put your numbers on the back of the poster so that you can find them the next day. The poster should be in color and attractive, while displaying appropriate information.
Once you have completed the rough draft of your TIME ERA paper, begin working on a poster about your time era. Poster paper will be made available to you. You may work in groups of 2-3 (two or three people). You may not work alone on the poster. Put your numbers on the back of the poster so that you can find them the next day. The poster should be in color and attractive, while displaying appropriate information.

Day 4- Geological Epochs
In your notebook, on pages 16 and 17, insert the Earth's History Vocabulary worksheets.
