Day 21- Dip in the Water
Add the following items in order to your notebook:

- HYDROLOGIC CYCLE ARTICLE. Read the article using the mountie 5.
- HYDROLOGIC CYLE DIAGRAM. Complete the cycle and add color.
- WATER AND THE ROCK CYCLE ARTICLE. Read the article using the mountie 5.
- WATER'S EFFECT QUESTIONS, and answer the following questions:
- Draw the rock cycle.
- Draw the hydrologic cycle.
- How can water break apart rock?
- How can water carry sediment?
- How can water cause deposition?
- How can water turn sediment into solid rock?
Day 22- Water
Answer the following questions on your own sheet of paper. Put your number and the date in the upper right hand corner, and title this Water. All diagrams must be in color and on a blank white sheet of paper.
- Outline, in a diagram, the stages of the water cycle.
- Define what is a water budget for a city and explain why the water budgets are typically not balanced. (Note, this is not talking about how much money we spend on water.)
- Describe 4 methods of conserving water.
- Describe two methods in which water will reach the ocean.
- Compare and contrast condensation and precipitation.
- Describe 2 ways to make sure that there will always be a continuous supply of fresh water.
- Summarize how a river develops.
- Describe and diagram the parts of a river system.
- Explain the different factors that influence the erosive capabilities of the river and how they change the river over time.
- Describe the different types of stream load: suspended load, bed load and dissolved load.
- How does the velocity of a stream affect the suspended load in a river/stream?
- Diagram the life cycle of a lake.
- Compare and contrast the two types of stream deposition.
- Describe what is a flood plain, and the disadvantages and advantages of living on a floodplain.
- Explain the pros and cons of 3 methods of flood control.
- How can the activities of human activities impact the size and number of floods?
